Teatro Romano de Mérida →
Inaugurated in 16-15 BC by Marcus Agrippa in the capital of Roman Lusitania, the Roman Theatre of Mérida is the crown jewel of Roman archaeology in Spain. Its spectacular two-tiered marble scaenae frons, flanked by Corinthian columns and classical statues of gods and emperors, still hosts live theatrical performances today during the International Classical Theatre Festival, bringing antiquity to life over two millennia later.
