Standing at the strategic crossroads of Europe and Asia, Hagia Sophia is one of the most astonishing architectural wonders in human history. Having served as the patriarchal cathedral of the Byzantine Empire, an imperial Ottoman mosque, and a museum, it encapsulates fifteen centuries of civilization.
